Plastics...think about it

So today I saw the weirdest speech. I was in speech class and this kid was talking about what we should do to end our over use of plastics. Bravo. Way to pick a boring topic. Should we waste? No. Should you write an entirely boring speech about it? Definitely not. If you are going to do something worth while, actually put your back into it. Please! For the sake of those who must listen to you drone on, add some Pizazz!

I have to write a speech in a week. It should go okay. I must pick something with which to persuade others. It will be interesting, to say the least. However, I am currently running on about 5 hours of sleep and it's almost 3:30 and I have class at 4. I should probably go find some group members and hash out what we will present today.

Ta Ta and Cheerio for now. May you all get more sleep than I.

Thanksgiving...wait for it....Break

I thought I would pick a festive color. Well this post is to inform you all that I quit NaNoWriMo because it is too stinking hard to do when you have class projects because the semester is ending. So I decided to save my sanity over break (which was going to be my salvation for NaNoWriMo), I would quit so that I can do a good job on a huge project that is due on the 1st. And I found out today in class that this was a particularly good move because another round of speeches will be kicking off that week. Therefore, over break I must work on a project and a half and write a speech. Lovely. Wait...make that two and half projects and a speech.

Now that I have shared my shame, I will now get the rest of my musings up to date.

(you should buckle up)

First of all, um its been like FOREHHHVER since I wrote, and for that, I do apologize. How can you know what awesome things I have to say if I don't write them? j/k

Oh, I learned that I understand almost no texting lingo. Yep. I am 18 and have the understanding of a 50 yr old in the texting realm. My AWANA girls send me texts and I am just like ....say what? Pretty sure that they think I am clueless!

Um...that's all I have for now except that I am SOOHOOOOOOOOO excited for Thanksgiving break...it. will. be. EPIC.

Long Time

Well, it has been quite a while since I wrote to my single reader. So here goes nothing.

I have decided to try to do the National Novel Writing Month challenge. That's right ...um America...is that who I am addressing...sure...I'll roll with it. That's right America, I, Blendy, will write 50,000 words in 30 days.

It is day 3 and I am at 600 words. But I only wrote for 20-30 minutes. So in theory that is AWESOME. In practice- I've got a long way to go.

Um...school is there and boring. One of my classes was canceled yesterday. It was absolutely marvelous & a glorious upturn to my day. I went out to eat with a friend of mine. We ate at Arby's. Delicious.

Well that's all she wrote.

So yeah...that's all I have right now. Enjoy your weekend.

Weekend Relaxation

This weekend I had the immense pleasure of playing house. Banana and Cantaloupe went to see my grandmother in Kansas and Papaya and Strawberry went to their Alma mater to see their college friends. That left me to fend for myself for the weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I went shopping, cooked, and did laundry - all the while enjoying the quiet. It was wonderful to be able to just sit in silence. People are so loud at my community college-so I relished the peace.

Though I enjoyed my time alone, I was quite happy when Banana and Cantaloupe returned on Sunday night. It was nice to know that someone that loves me is in the same room with me.

All in all, I had a marvelous weekend. I hope my week shall go as well.

An update

I was told by my brother that I do not update this enough. He cites my lack of musing as to why my parents never know when I have written something. So to show them all I am going to post 2 days in this week. Is that enough?

I have decided to give names to all of my family members.

My parents shall be known as Banana (dad) and Cantaloupe ( mom). The reasoning behind these names is that dad always eats the mushy bananas to prove that they are still good and edible and that they should not be thrown out. Mom just likes cantaloupe.

My oldest sister who also blogs (and who my parents follow faithfully) shall be known as papaya, just cause i like the sound of that fruit.

My brother and his wife shall be grapefruit and kiwi respectively.

My next oldest sister shall be a strawberry because she loves them so.

One of my dearest girl friends and cousin who has long blond hair and no decorating taste (you know who you are) shall be pomegranate.

And the last one for now will be another cousin who I have much fun with cause he is rather entertaining shall be pineapple.

That is all for now because I have some studying to do.

Oh & papaya you should be quite pleased now since you had requested a name.

Beginning of Fall

Ah, the beginning of fall. How blissful. Yesterday, as I trudged off to school, I felt the nip of the air and smelled leaves. At that moment, I knew fall had arrived. It was an uplifting thought, since I had a strong desire to skip school and sleep/read all day. However, my dear friends, the thought of fall made me joyous again. I have always loved fall. I love hoodies and slippers, sweaters and cocoa, flannel sheets and hot soup. I love sitting indoors reading by a lamp. But what I love most about fall is what comes after...winter and with winter comes Christmas break. I absolutely love Christmas break because it means many a get-together with family, NO SCHOOL, free time, NO SCHOOL, lazy days all week long, and finally, NO SCHOOL.

Is it bad that I already want to start a count down for the end of this semester? Sometimes I just feel bored. I want to get out there and DO something- not just read about it in a text book. I understand that there must be preparation, but does it have to take to long? *sigh* Maybe I'm supposed to learn patience and perseverance--even if I don't feel like it.

On a much happier note than the previous paragraph, I got my first test back. I got a 97% because I missed one question. I am perfectly happy with that because I had no idea what the answer was so I took a stab...and was wrong...but its a 97%--who cares that I guessed wrong? I will see my next test in about 2 hours...the one from Marvin's class. I really hope it went well. Sheila doesn't want me to look at her when we get them back. She says I'll laugh at her. I don't think I would. This class is way too hard for me to laugh at someone messing up. In my other class I would mock you- in Marvin's never.

Speaking of Marvin, I must study for that class. It requires so much attention. So without much ado,

At the suggestion of one of my dear friends, I am going to give people I know new names for the sake of this blog & probably my sanity. If I ever tried to reference more than one of them at once it would probably get rather difficult. Therefore I would like to introduce you to my supporting cast: Marvin is the guy who went off about pets in one of my classes( I mentioned that on the last post.) Interesting guy- I hope you have a chance to meet him, but that you don't have to stay too long; it could get weird. Sheila is one of my best friends who I have known for what feels like forever. Truth be told I picked Sheila because she is the antithesis of anyone I have ever known who has that name :D but I digress. Pete and Amanda are the cute couple from my high school who attend here and are dating. They make me smile, though I sometimes want to smack Pete. And finally, Addison is the one person who will probably be in here the most. We carpool and have many of the same classes. She is sweet and I gave her that name because she thinks it is a cute little girl name even though it literally means "son of Adam." That is my short list of supporting characters. I will probably add to it as time goes on.

Oh wait. I thought of two more. Mafia and Burt. They are in Marvin's class with me. Strange- that is all there is to say- strange. But I'm sure I will have stories later.

For the second time today,
Later days from Blendy

Well, I'm in my fourth week of school. Today classes were canceled between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm for a school wide pick nick. Yes, I am skipping the festivities to be in the computer lab. Why? Because I am not a huge fan of socializing with people I don't know. I do like making new acquaintances, but I don't like being forced to do so. So I have come to the computer lab to sit next to one of my best friends while we both do various things on the Internet. I think school is going relatively well. Sometimes I feel like I have no time, and then I remember where I'm at. Community College is not hard. It could be, but for the amount of classes I am taking I have relatively little work. Only busy work. Nothing too difficult. I would kind of like to just write a paper or something. But I do know from my few syllabus that things will eventually pick up. So here's hoping for a small challenge. But then again, maybe not. It might be easier to be bored throughout this semester.

On a happier note, the other day a friend and I saw a butterfly outside the student center. I took a picture and it is now a bright spot on my phone.

People are strange. That is one fact that I have come to realize while being here. I don't think I knew enough people before to really understand that. I have met one person who makes me think of the Mafia, another of a billy goat, another of a creepy salesman, and another who is just fascinated with protractors. Oh, and I have a prof. who makes dog treats...with expensive ingredients...because he wants better for his dog than himself. That is just strange. People are always more important than pets. I don't care who you are- you are more important than your pet. I think you should take care of your dog, but you should be having the prime rib dinner, not the pet.

Anyway, that is my rant for now; it is finally almost time for class.

LABOR DAY!!!!

Well, my dear, non-existent readers, today is labor day. I love labor day for a number of reasons. 1) there is no school
2) it means camping with my family
3) it signifies that school has begun and therefore will end sooner than before.

Unfortunately, it also means that I have to endure my allergies and that I must think about homework now. Those are two unloved realities. Oh well, I must learn to cope. Speaking of homework...I have to go do some reading and studying and math. But let it be known that Blendy loves labor day.

College...Week One

Well, it's official. I have completed my first week of school. I only have one class on monday, wednesday, and friday so that wasn't so bad. Unfortunately, my first teacher was a incredibly frightening. Wow. I'm not sure I really can describe it. It was like an intense fear of being unable to accomplish the task at hand. I had never felt that before and it was unsettling. But be not afraid, for I have since come to understand that this teacher is not very harsh. More like her bark was more than her bite. I have a sneaking suspicion that it shall not be that hard of a class. Tuesday, thrusday I have three classes & it shouldn't be too hard. I start off the day with a very nice teacher. His class tries to make you feel at home. And than I have another class which may fill me with dread. It's a public speaking class. I hate public speaking. But, again, I think the class won't be the hardest one on the block. Finally, I end my day with a teacher that may just give me a run for my money. He is quite a character. I think that he may drowned me in homework & yet I am almost sure I won't hate him for it -- because he is intriguing. So that was my first week. I have since had another and am about to start my third. I'll let you know how it goes.

A blog of all things blendy

Ooooh...I do believe that I am giddy. I would do a happy dance right now, except that no one could see it. For several weeks now, I have greatly desired a blog. It sounded like fun. It sounded adventurous. It sounded NEW. And so, my dear, few readers (probably all of whom are family) I shall do my best to entertain, enlighten, and inform you of my doings and musings. And now, I shall commence.
I did a very depressing thing today...I bought my new college text books. It was painful and downright wrong. It was sickening to tell you the truth- I spent almost 300 dollars on 3 books! THREE! Anyway after that dark task my sister blar (that is what I call Becky sometimes- p.s. she has a blog too-Christian Chick's Thoughts) suggested that I finally fulfill my longing of about a month and get a blog. So that leaves me here- at typing to the world who probably will never realize the genius that is my randomness.
I titled this- the blog of all things blendy, not to discuss blenders and how they pulverize things in a desired fashion, but to be a marvelous intro to a blog of my views on my entering into college. I will soon begin my college career at a local community college, and well, lets face it- its gonna be just plain interesting. So I shall share with whomever whatever I feel like. So sit back and enjoy the show.
Later Days!
